Join the CyberNINES team as a Cybersecurity Analyst Intern through SkillBridge!
If you are a service member transitioning to the private sector, you might be eligible for a DoD SkillBridge internship. CyberNINES is an authorized partner in the DoD SkillBridge program.
The CyberNINES SkillBridge internship trains cybersecurity analysts in cybersecurity standards and regulations, specifically those related to the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), Homeland Security Acquisition Regulation (HSAR), and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC). By completing our program, you will learn to help federal contractors and vendors comply with required cybersecurity protocols and win or retain federal contracts. You will also be well positioned to pursue qualification as a Certified CMMC Registered Practitioner (RP) and to conduct CMMC audits on DoD vendors and contractors on behalf of the Defense Contract Management Agency’s (DCMA’s) Defense Industrial Base Cybersecurity Audit Board (DIBCAC).

The cybersecurity analyst internship includes the following responsibilities:
- Monitor security access
- Conduct security assessments through vulnerability testing and risk analysis
- Perform internal and external security audits
- Analyze security breaches to identify the root cause
- Continuously update incident response and disaster recovery plans
- Verify the security of third-party vendors and collaborate with them to meet security system requirements
Interns will also be trained in cybersecurity governance, which focuses on the NIST SP 800-171 framework and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity policies and standards, with a specific emphasis on safeguarding Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). Primary responsibility will be to assess, develop, and maintain NIST SP 800-171 cybersecurity governance practices to protect sensitive information and assets.
The internship lasts for 90 to 120-days, after which the participant should have:
- A comprehensive understanding of the NIST SP 800-171 framework and proficiency in implementing and assessing cybersecurity measures to protect CUI.
- The ability to map controls to assessment objectives
- The ability to conduct NIST SP 800-171 assessments
- Preparedness to take the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Registered Practitioner (RP) exam.
